Job Description: Food Service-Server

This job falls into one or both of two different categories of employment- either “seasonal” or “variable hours”.  Most employment at Knoebels is seasonal employment. This means the duration of the job will customarily be six months or less.  Some employment at Knoebels may customarily extend beyond six months and this employment is typically classified as variable hour employment.  The employment is considered variable hour employment because average weekly hours cannot reasonably be anticipated at the time of hire due to uncertainty of the work schedule (e.g. weather, fluctuating staffing needs, etc.).

Serve restaurant guests, maintain a clean workstation & provide consistent, friendly service.

Job Criteria

NO CELL PHONES WITH YOU WHILE YOU ARE ON DUTY

Minimum age 18

Seasonal full-time and part-time positions available

Shifts average 6 & 8 hours

Shifts fall within hours of 10:30am-9:30pm

Some weekend/evening hours required

Find own replacement if unable to make scheduled shifts

Requires working in an indoor or semi-indoor environment

Requires frequent standing and walking

Serving duties require lifting up to 20lbs

Do NOT touch your face (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hair, etc.) in view of a guest

Do not eat at any workstation in view of guests

Keep drinks out of view of guests (not on counter)

Do not smoke or use tobacco products while at any workstation

Wash hands after touching your face, eating, smoking, or using restroom

Must be able to do multiple tasks at once

Ability to use computerized ordering-system

Responsible for accuracy in ordering

Requires relating to customers in a friendly & professional manner

Have an outgoing personality with a strong commitment to service

Wear company-issued staff shirts/aprons

Wear staff hat/visor brim forward only

Wear nametag on left chest

Wear appropriate bottoms

Wear closed footwear and socks/stockings

Must remove any visible facial or body-piercing at work

Conform to company grooming and hygiene requirements

Follow Knoebels “Standards of Conduct”

 

Essential Functions

Greet all guests that make eye contact with you

Take food & drink orders from guests

Collect & return menus to menu station

Enter order accurately in computer

Serve guests food & drink order accurately

Return to guests 1 minute after serving order to be sure order is correct

Check on guests periodically to see if you can get them anything

Offer the option of dessert

Ask for help or supplies when needed

Answer guest questions or direct guests to someone who can

Handle guest complaints or call a supervisor

Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisors/Managers                                                                                 7/16
